The NewAlliance Foundation Art Gallery is maintained by the Studio Art/Graphic Design Plan. The gallery is  strategically located on the basis floor of the campus' South Building, with windows that share its exhibitions with foot traffic on Church Street and George Street. In addition to hosting students' end-of-the-year projects, the gallery also hosts exhibitions by professional artists.

Gateway Community College celebrated its grand opening and the naming of the NewAlliance Foundation Art Gallery on April 10, 2014, with a new showroom, "Retentivity and Legacy," and a program of speakers. The NewAlliance Foundation provides financial support to charitable organizations, addressing various community needs in the arts, community evolution, health and human being services, and youth and education. Through the NewAlliance Foundation Art Gallery, GCC will continue to showcase New Haven and its history.

Tony Falcone has painted professionally since 1974.  Built-in in New Oasis, Tony served equally a New Haven fireman for seven years until he discovered his love of painting and established Falcone Art Studio in a vintage dairy barn located in Prospect, Connecticut.  A self-taught creative person, it is in that location as well as on location throughout the land that Tony creates his "imaginistic" murals, canvases, portraits and sculptures.

Today, Falcone Art Studio is known for its wide spectrum of fine artworks created primarily on a deputed ground.  Falcone'south monumental murals, highly detailed canvases, and heirloom quality portraits heighten public spaces, corporate and education settings and private homes. Widely known for his skill in capturing familiar landscapes and cityscapes, the artist reproduces these nostalgic images as collectible fine art prints, posters, Giclees, etchings, greeting cards, paperweights and medallions.

The Artist'south executive, heirloom and architectural portraits are held in the collections of: Albertus Magnus College; Yale School of Nursing; Yale School of Medicine; Infirmary of Saint Raphael; Gateway Community College; New Alliance Bank;  AIDS New Haven; Ronald McDonald Business firm; Sickle Cell Community Firm; the Greater New Haven Sleeping accommodation of Commerce; the U.Southward. Coast Baby-sit University in New London; Superior and Probate Courts in New Haven and Hartford; the Saybrook Indicate Inn; International Aero Engines, Glastonbury; and the Sewall Foundation in Portland, Maine.

Other notable Falcone mural commissions include: a floor mural for the Yale University Peabody Museum of Natural History; a commemorative trompe 50'oeil mural for the Alumni Center at the U.Due south. Coast Guard Academy; and murals at the Yale University Police force Schoolhouse, the Floyd Trivial Field House at Hillhouse High School in New Haven, Albertus Magnus College, the Fusco Corporation, and downtown Onetime Saybrook.

Falcone is the recipient of the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from AlbertusMagnus College in New Haven, CT.  He is featured in "Artists Adjacent Door: A Great City's Creative Spirit" published in New Haven, CT by Cheever Tyler. An exhibit representing the piece of work of realist painter Nicholas Halko, art professor and program coordinator at Gateway Community College, opens Tuesday, October 1 in the NewAlliance Foundation Art Gallery.

Halko is an laurels-winning painter who has exhibited in solo and grouping shows primarily in Connecticut and New York.

A reception will accept place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.1000. on Thursday, October 24. The showroom will be open through November 15.

Explaining his preferred subject matter, Halko expressed that he enjoys capturing scenes that are the essence of his life.

"I paint the people, places, and things that are function of my life considering this is a fashion for me to affirm them, myself, and the time, space, and reality we share," Halko said.

Halko's paintings are part of public collections at the Slader Memorial Museum in Norwich, the Academy of Connecticut Medical Center in Farmington, and the Parsons Government Complex in Milford.  His work is as well office of a public drove in Leon, Nicaragua, as well as in individual collections in the Us and away.

Halko received his Principal of Fine Arts caste from the Hartford Fine art School at the University of Hartford, where he studied with Artist Steven Brown and was awarded a merit scholarship and pedagogy assistantship.  He as well studied painting and drawing at the Art Students League of New York, where he received the Stuart Klonis Merit Scholarship and was class monitor for his principal instructor, Richard Goetz.

In the early 1980s, he studied with the noted painter, teacher, and protégé of Charles Hawthorne, Henry Henche, at the Cape School of Art, MA and with the painter and writer Charles Movalli in Cape Ann, MA.  Halko, who has been education at Gateway Community Higher since 1993, is the founder of the Studio Art/Graphic Pattern Associate Caste plan.  The gallery is located at the south building on the showtime floor. Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday, x:00 a.chiliad. to ix:00 p.1000. and Saturdays, 10:00 a.one thousand. to ane:00 p.m.
